One of the rarest denarii of Boleslaw III the Wrymouth.
The highest (except for rarities) degree of rarity in Kopicki's catalog, with a note of 3 pieces known.
On the obverse the prince with a shield and a spear, on the sides his name BOLE ZLAV.
The spear, according to Stronczynski:
"is probably the spear of St. Maurice, which, among other gifts, Emperor Otto bestowed on Boleslaw the Brave".
On the reverse is a building with three towers, which could already be seen on the coins of Boleslaw II the Bold and Ladislaus I Herman.
An exquisite piece, in mint fresh condition.
One of the most beautiful on the collector's market.
