She worked in weaving (fabrics, tapestries), painting, and drawing. She was born in 1926 in Jodowniki and died in 2012 in Nowy Targ. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków from the Department of Painting in Czesław Rzepliński’s studio and from the Department of Textiles in Stefan Gałkowski’s studio. From 1952 to 1981, she served as artistic director and designer of over several hundred kilims, textiles, and embroideries at the Center for Folk and Artistic Industry (CPLiA) in Maków Podhalański, and from 1956 onward in Nowy Targ. From 1978 to 1982, she was a member and president of the Association of Polish Fine Artists (ZPAP) in Zakopane. Her favorite motifs in tapestries were landscapes and human figures. Color and symbolism played a very important role in her works. Teresa Zydroń’s works were presented in solo exhibitions at numerous institutions, including: the BWA Gallery in Zakopane (1962, 1978), the Kordegarda in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw (1977), the Municipal Cultural Center in Nowy Targ (1979), the BWA “Jatki” Art Gallery in Nowy Targ (1994, 2003, 2014), the “Pałacyk” Gallery of Friends of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1957), Follo Folkehogskole in Norway (1977), the Polish Cultural Center in Leipzig (1988), and the Cepelia Gallery in Kraków (2004). She also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including those organized by the Zakopane branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP) (1960–1995) and the exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the ZPAP in Zakopane (2011). She exhibited her works at the 2nd Design Fair in Warsaw (1962), where she won an award for a textured kilim, and abroad: in Roverbelli, Italy (1991), Kežmarok, Slovakia (1999), in Canada, and in the United States. She participated in numerous plein air workshops organized by Cepelia, including those in Zamość, Rzeszów, and Kazimierz nad Wisłą. She won many awards, including: at the 2nd Design Fair in Warsaw (1962), Second Prize at the post-competition exhibition “The Rider and the Horse” in Warsaw (1968), and the silver medal “Artists from the Cepelia Circle” at the Central Office of Art Exhibitions “Zachęta” in Warsaw (1973). Her works are held in the collections of museums and private collectors, both in Poland and abroad. In 2006, the Nowy Targ City Council awarded her the Medal for Special Services to the City of Nowy Targ. (Nowy Targ Museum)
