Who wants to find out what the champagnes that dominate the world's wine markets taste like?
We have prepared a special set based on just what is currently happening in the broad wine world. The champagne category has always been one of the most attractive to buyers, characterized by a low entry threshold, high dynamism and differentiation. Earlier this year, however, it fell victim to its own success - demand for the wines triggered price increases, which hampered trade in these wines. The state of affairs did not last long, however - consumers unwilling to pay extra began to look for alternatives in other regions. Champagne prices on the markets fell (as can be seen very clearly in the level of the observers of the condition of this category of indices), and behind this moved increased demand.
Liv-ex indicates that the most active champagnes on the markets recently are Dom Perignon 2013 and Cristal 2015, both of which are leading titles, both in volume and value terms. However, while Dom Perignon has been recording such results since the beginning of this year, Cristal only joined it in the second half of the season. Both champagnes are selling below the price at which they were released, so they are a good bargain for buyers. And these brands probably don't need to be introduced to anyone anymore.
