1982 vintage - Barolo vs Barbaresco
1982 is one of those unusual vintages in Piedmont that is talked about even decades after its release. Thanks to good weather conditions with warm summers and a rainless autumn, this vintage produced rich, concentrated wines with great aging potential. The best of the labels still serve as a benchmark of how beautifully high-end nebbiolo develops.
The set allows us to compare Barolo and Barbaresco from this vintage with each other. Both wines are from great producers - Borgogno and Fontanafredda. The elegant and fine Barbaresco from the historic Fontanafredda estate will stand in opposition to the richer and fuller Barolo. Slightly softer tannins, a tad less pronounced structure, but a rich bouquet composed of truffles, autumn leaves and roasted herbs. Discovering the most subtle differences between the wines will be a passionate experience not only for Piedmontese lovers.
