The author, Prof. Andrzej Kłossowski, documents the artist’s life in detail: from the prewar Atelier Girs-Barcz in Warsaw, through the traumatic camp experiences (Auschwitz) and the founding of the Warsaw Publishing House in Exile in Munich (where Girs published, among other works, T. Borowski’s famous “We Were in Auschwitz”), to his postwar bibliophilic activities in the U.S.
