""Dangerous Visions" is a legendary science fiction anthology, called - quite deservedly - the best SF anthology of all time. Harlan Ellison, an American writer, editor and activist of fandom invented a new formula for it. At the time, anthologies were composed of short stories previously published in collections or in the press. Ellison decided to persuade the best-known authors to write stories specifically for "Dangerous Visions." He asked them for stories that were strong, sharp, exploring new themes in fields hitherto unexplored by fantasy. In addition, Ellison did something more - wanting to ennoble fantasy, he persuaded mainstream writers to participate in the anthology. This resulted in a truly brilliant anthology. For the first time, too, each story was accompanied by an introduction by the editor, an afterword by the author and even a commentary by Ellison. In Poland, "Dangerous Visions" was surrounded by the nimbus of a legendary book. The "Orbit" Fantasy Club of Poznan, tried to publish it as a club book, fitting the contents of the massive volume into three volumes. Unfortunately, the club edition of "Dangerous Visions" was fatally translated, lacking editing and proofreading. But it still had an impact on increasing the legend of the anthology. The Polish edition appeared only on the 35th anniversary of the anthology's publication, in 2002, on the initiative of Wojtek Sedenko, who is a great admirer of Ellison's work."
