Ferdynand Antoni Ossendowski pseudonym Feranto, Mark Czertwan (born May 27, 1876 in Lucyna, Vitebsk province, died January 3, 1945 in Zolwin, Brwinow borough) - Polish writer, journalist, traveler, anti-communist, university teacher, political, scientific and social activist.

"Ossendowski achieved worldwide fame with his book, "Animals, People, Gods," which was published in New York in late 1920 and early 1921, in London in 1922, and in Warsaw in 1923. Altogether it reached a record number of nineteen translations into foreign languages. In it, Ossendovsky described his memories of escaping from a Russia gripped by the chaos of the revolution. The description includes the escape from Krasnoyarsk overrun by the Bolsheviks, the winter in the taiga, the crossing to Mongolia and https://www.google.pl/?hl=pl&tab=TT&gws_rd=sslpobyt there alongside Baron Ungern." First Polish edition titled: "Through the Land of People, Animals and Gods. Konno przez Azja Centralną" Warsaw 1923; the set on offer includes the second, and expanded and supplemented edition of the book.
Due to the fact that the author was a staunch anti-communist, in the People's Republic of Poland Ossendowski's books were withdrawn from libraries and his name totally erased and covered by the censorship record, he was not even allowed to be mentioned in any publications.
