Kazimierz Truchanowski referred to the avant-garde currents of twentieth-century prose (Franz Kafka, Robert Musil, Herman Broch, Bruno Schulz) giving an original look at the human plight and the developmental paths of modern civilization shaping so problematically. A look full of catastrophic tones, but also not without hope for a more optimistic scenario. Even concerning those new and "progressive" trends of our era, trends that threaten nature, man and human society with slow insidious and total annihilation. In the trilogy Poisoned Wells (The Street of All Saints, Pharmacy under the Sun, The Conspiracy of Demiurges), the pretextual plot of which is set in a peculiarly unreal setting of a small-town environment, where the main focus is on these essentially timeless problems - the universal mechanisms of the formation of authoritarian power, analysis of the reasons for the departure from the humanistic traditions of democracy and liberalism towards the dominance of the idea of force, submission to violence, succumbing to manipulation and "collusion of demiurges", as an exemplum of the extremely dangerous, tainted and constantly even "poisoned" by newspeak varieties of modern tyranny.
