Architect Eugeniusz Wesolowski was associated with Galicia; he completed most of his professional projects there. Most - in Zakopane, where he lived for almost half a century. He also stayed and worked in Lviv, Okocim, Tarnow and Trzebuska (Zamojski estate). He was an outstanding representative of the Zakopane architectural style, an ardent supporter and promoter of Stanislaw Witkiewicz. He published several articles on the Zakopane style, which were to be published as a book.
Paperback.
Condition as in the photos.
The package consists of 28 items. It is mainly correspondence from Wesolowski's home archive, from the turn of the 20th century. (The exception here is an invitation from Lviv's Citadel Club from 1900). The largest number of postcards has survived. Sixteen postcards date from 1893-1903. Three letters (from 1897-1901), and 9 blank envelopes (from 1895-1901). Notable among them is an envelope addressed to the Sokol Gymnastic Society in Zakopane (1909), and an envelope with a coat of arms (h. Sulima variety?) imprinted in red lacquer. In general, the correspondence relates to the "pre-Oakopian" period in Wesolowski's life when he was in Krakow, Lviv, Okocim, Tarnow and Trzebuska. It mainly concerns private matters and minor professional issues.
The collection, due to its contents, is attractive to philocartists and researchers of the history of Polish architecture.
