Gift of the Artist
Tom Kwiręg (b. 1976) - a change of profession from a polonist and educator to a full-time photographer has sensitized my attention to image as a language of expression. After hours, still with my camera and with the need for my own creative activity, I seek diversity, treating each subject democratically. This year I am presenting a selection from several documentary series in the form of the exhibition BARW. The shots, wide or in detail, of fragments of landscape or urban circumstances, still lifes, portraits - record my reality faithfully though, perhaps surprisingly and debatably, especially when they move from figuration to abstractions. I combine the art of photography with my knowledge and interests in music, literature and theater. I photograph in interiors and outdoors, and organize directed sessions. I cooperate with individuals, artists, cultural centers, NGOs documenting events - capital and local. I have been living with my wife and three children in Konstancin-Jeziorna for 20 years.
