Goavert Flinck (1615 –1660) – attributed, Portrait of a Boy on a Rocking Horse
A blond boy sits on a rocking horse, holds the reins with his left hand and raises his right hand with the whip while playing. He looks at the viewer with a childishly serious look. He wears fancy clothes, popularized in Holland by Rembrandt's Tronies. Over a white shirt, the boy wears a blue-grey dress and some kind of coat with short sleeves. A gold chain hangs across the chest. The tonal colors, the lighting and the painterly conception also refer to the Rembrandt successor. Oil on canvas, 59.5 × 75 cm
