The painting in very good condition, after professional conservation.
Canvas re-stretched on the loom, added selvedges, corrected the old repair of the cut canvas over the figure of Napoleon, cleaning from dirt. There were no deficiencies in the paint layer. Photos of the painting from before conservation at the end of the photos.
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive paintings by Marian Nowicki.
It presents itself exquisitely.
The frame is contemporary.
He was a pupil of Wojciech Kossak (since 1923). In the master's studio he made underpaintings for his works. In 1931-35 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow with Władysław Jarocki, Ignacy Pieńkowski and Józef Mehoffer. During World War II, he was deported to the Gusen concentration camp, where he died.
