Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930-2017) - one of the most important Polish artists of the twentieth century, sculptor and creator of artistic textiles, associated with the current of contemporary art. She gained international fame for her monumental fiber forms, the so-called "Abakans," and later for her cycles of human figures and crowds with anonymous, headless silhouettes, addressing the human condition, collectivity and fragility of the body. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, exhibited around the world and made numerous installations in public space. Her works are in the collections of major museums and contemporary art institutions.
