Biography
Prose writer, playwright, graphic artist. Author and illustrator of children's books, co-founder of the Polish school of illustration. As a cartoonist, he collaborated with, among others, "Cyrulik Warszawski", "Szpilki", "Kultura" and the weekly "Literatura", where he printed his "drawing columns". So far, two selections of his drawing works have been published - What do we know about people? (1977) and I Will Not Remake You (1985). Author of novels: The Gardeners (1956), The Golden Worm (1968), With His Back Against the Wall (1970) and Four Seconds (1976), as well as theater and film scripts: Men on the Island, Girl from a Good Home.
He was one of the most outstanding individuals of the Polish school of illustration, author of the children's books Szare uszko (1963), Ballada o dentyście (1966) and Grzyby galopują na koniach (1976). As an illustrator, he worked with the publishing houses "Czytelnik", "Nasza Księgarnia" and the weekly "Świerszczyk". He received many awards and honors for his artwork - including the Silver Medal at the Internationale Buchkunst-Ausstellung in Leipzig (1959) and the First Degree State Prize (1962). He has participated in many national and international exhibitions, including Ostend, Amsterdam, Moscow, Vienna, London and Belgrade.
