Biography
During World War II, he studied at the School of Drawing and Painting. After the war, he worked as a graphic artist at the Ministry of National Defense Publishing House. He illustrated many books. He specialized in military illustrations. In the late 1960s, he was offered the opportunity to draw comic books. He created one issue featuring the adventures of “Captain Żbik” and six issues of the “Underground Front” series. In 1970, the Sport i Turystyka publishing house began work on the “Captain Kloss” comic book series. The script was directly based on the original TV series and was written by the show’s screenwriters—Andrzej Szypulski and Zbigniew Safjan. Through a contest, Mieczysław Wiśniewski created the comic panels for this cult comic; despite a few differences, he used the face of the main character from the TV series—Stanisław Mikulski. Mieczysław Wiśniewski ended his career with the “Kapitan Kloss” series.
