original lithograph/velin paper
32 x 50 cm
dimensions: 32.5 x 50 cm in light passe-partout (whole 50 x 68 cm), dated twice on the plate "4.2.63".
This original print was prepared by Picasso specifically for the fourth volume of catalogs of his lithographs, "Picasso Lithographe, vol. IV, 1956-1964", Fernand Mourlot, Andre Sauret, 1964. The publisher was the Paris Atelier Mourlot, and the lithograph, like all original prints by Picasso, is cataloged - in the Mourlot catalog it is numbered 388.
You could also add something like this to the former two (but I leave that to your judgment)
Four volumes of catalogs of Picasso's lithographs were published between 1949-64. For each volume, Picasso prepared an original lithograph for the cover and frontispiece. All catalogs were published in only one edition, in a limited edition of 2,500 to 3,000 pieces. They were never reissued in this form.
Founded in Paris by the Mourlot family, the graphic design studio (known as Imprimerie Mourlot, Mourlot Freres and Atelier Mourlot) began to specialize in artistic lithography from the 1920s. Its development comes at a time when the company began to be headed by Fernand Mourlot. It was he who established cooperation with the greatest artists of the time and gained fame and recognition especially in the period from the 1950s to the 1980s, when he published lithographs of such world art stars as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro and Henri Matisse.
