The object was designed by Wanda Szrajberówna, who was a key figure and at the same time artistic director of the Częstochowa factory, a respected painter and ceramicist. She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and at the Académie da la Grande Chaumiére in Paris and the State School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Poznań, among others. In the interwar years, she worked with leading Polish ceramists, and from 1923 she ran her own ceramic studio in Wisniew near Warsaw. She was a lover of folk forms, styles and ornamentation. She presented her works at national and international exhibitions, including the International Exhibition of Decorative Art and Design in Paris in 1925, which was a great success for Poland. Wanda Szrajberówna was the central figure of "Deed." Her presence in the team was of paramount importance for the devotional quality renewal program implemented at the plant.
The "Czyn" Ceramic Products Factory had been operating in Czestochowa since November 1945 and was engaged in creating modern objects of religious worship. For almost eight years of operation, the trained artists working there, including Wanda Szrajberówna, Zofia Trzcińska-Kamińska, Sister Aniela Józefowicz and the well-known Częstochowa-based Pospieszalski family - Donata and Stanisław - developed many new designs for religious figures and reliefs and refined old models. Everything was made by hand, with attention to detail as well as quality. The factory was closed in 1953 for political and economic reasons.
The item was included in the retrospective exhibition "Doing Beauty. Activities of the Częstochowa Ceramic Products Factory "Czyn""" , which was held in the "Gallery of Good Art", from April 23 to September 16, 2022, the Gallery is a branch of the Częstochowa Museum.
