Władysława Prucnal (born in 1935) grew up in a family of potters. Her grandfather and father were potters, and her brothers were also involved in pottery. She completed seven years of elementary school. Even in school, she was already sculpting birds and animals. Her father, Jan Prucnal, while exhibiting his own works at a folk ceramics exhibition in Rzeszów in 1950, also presented clay figurines created by his daughter, who was 15 at the time.
Her works attracted the interest of museums and the CPLiA. A collaboration was established with the young sculptor, who soon joined the Pottery Cooperative and began producing clay figurines there.
Works by Władysława Prucnal are held by numerous museums: Rzeszów, Lublin, Kraków, Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź, Szydłowiec, Rabka, Jasło, Radom, Kolbuszowa, Toruń, Płock, and others. They have also found their way into the collections of the Toy Museum in Nuremberg and the Ethnographic Museum in Berlin, as well as into numerous private collections. Particularly noteworthy is the collection of her ceramic sculptures assembled in Piecki near Mrągowo by Walentyna and Maria Dermacka, which includes several hundred figurines from various periods of her career.
The artist has been a member of the STL since 1972. She is a recipient of a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art and has been awarded numerous medals and prizes. (Association of Folk Artists)
