Catalog of Polish Books Available at the Zawadzki and Węcki Bookstore, located at 415 Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. The bookstore and printing house of Józef Zawadzki (1781–1838) and Józef Węcki was founded in 1812 as a partnership and served as a branch of Zawadzki’s bookstore in Vilnius. The company was one of the largest in the Congress Kingdom, and at the same time the most important bookstore and printing house in Warsaw, where scholars and writers associated with the Warsaw Society of Friends of the Sciences and the Czartoryski court in Puławy published their works. Józef Węcki—a relative of Zawadzki—also served as the bookstore’s manager (after Zawadzki’s death, the company continued to operate until 1858 under the management of his son).
