Ewa Wąsikiewicz-Wolnicka was born on December 1, 1934 in Kozy. She studied at the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and received her diploma in Prof. Jerzy Bandura's studio in 1960. After graduation she devoted herself entirely to painting. Her works are in private collections and museum collections in 16 countries. The artist creates paintings dominated by cool tones, extremely atmospheric, full of colorful harmonies and sophisticated color combinations. The decorative qualities and intimate nature of many compositions are emblematic of the thematic repertoire of the artist's works. Their main subject is a woman inscribed in a surreal landscape. Sometimes the background for the models are galloping horses or intriguing in form flowers, full of references to personal experiences. Balanced, compact compositions showing the rich inner world of the artist, with her fascinations and strong ties with nature, do not succumb to influences and trends, and are characterized by maturity and remarkable consistency.
