The painting Landscape with a pond from 1896 represents one of Stanislav Lolk's early works, created in the period when the young painter was inspired by the modern tendencies of Czech landscape painting. The composition with a calm water surface lined with trees and clearly shows the influence of Antonín Chittussi, especially in the subtle lighting and lyrical mood that permeates the whole scene.Lolek does not follow topographical accuracy here, but rather the emotional response of the landscape — capturing the atmosphere of the given moment, the calmness and harmony of nature.
