Venetian painter. He also used the pseudonyms Franchot Seville and Angelo Bragolin. He had an academic background and taught at the Venetian Academy for a time. Among other things, he painted still lifes, portraits, religious subjects, but is best known for his depictions of crying children, which have been popularized worldwide by reproductions.
