Yarek Godfrey (also known as Godfrey.ow or Jarosław Godfrejow; real name Jarosław Paweł Nowicki) was a Polish artist of French, British, and Austrian descent, born on April 8, 1957, in Olsztyn. In 1982, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and completed his studies in the Department of Set and Costume Design for the Theater. In 1983, he moved to Paris, where he lived until his death in 2014.
Godfrey received numerous awards for his work (including the Gold Medal at the 38th Salon des Jeunes Artistes, Grand Palais, Paris, 1987; the Grand Prix at the 26th International Côte d’Azur Art Salon, Cannes, 1990). He presented his works at numerous group and solo exhibitions, primarily in the United States and France, but also in Belgium, Monaco, and Italy. He died tragically on March 28, 2014.
