Ana Ksamit
Abstract expressionist painter.
By soul and temperament she is a Manhattan resident. Raised in New York in a family of emigrants from Poland. She spends summers in Poland in the Mazovia region. She says that the only thing she took from home was her love of knitting. Her grandmother used to knit for the whole family, and while doing so, she would tell Ana stories from the past, using her strong Slavic accent.
Ana studied the humanities. Art history and literature. For many years she worked as an English teacher. Geometric abstraction fascinated her when she visited a group of friendly abstract painters. She started drawing, experimenting and eventually began studying painting.
Ana can be downright ascetic in her artistic expression, limiting herself to a certain decorative minimalism. But sometimes she is surprisingly bold and daring, lavish and striking.
Ana is very independent and private. She doesn't want her work to be labeled, categorized. She has her own group of followers and to them she presents her work in the arena
She has presented her work in exhibitions in the US, Poland and Spain.
