The female nude is the subject most often taken up by artists throughout the history of art. Bożena Grzyb-Jarodzka's painting is part of this representational tradition, but in a somewhat perverse way. The author is a co-founder of the famous Luxus group, which in the late 1980s and early 1990s, in spite of the seriousness of the political situation and the greyness of communist Poland, introduced carefree pop, sex and humor to Polish art. In this sense, Jarodzka's act is "luxurious," meant to serve the sensual pleasure of looking. The painting does not require a symbolic reading, nor is there a trace of non-artistic involvement. It provides the luxury of relaxation.
