About the Artist:
Diana Zarow - in her work refers to the currents of surrealism, magical realism and symbolism. She usually uses a time-consuming laser technique, and the works have a thoughtful and planned concept.
In the painter's oeuvre there is a clear fascination with mythology, the return of man to his roots, living in symbiosis with nature and the universe. Indeed, the painting is a call to respect the animal world, our planet and the prudent use of its resources. The Earth feeds us, clothes us, provides us with a place to live and develop, while man, using its resources greedily and recklessly, will destroy himself, but after him the Earth will be reborn in a new and better form - or without man? That is already up to us. The symbols in the paintings allude to cycles: infinity, transience, decay and rebirth, the constant repetition of these processes, and the symbiosis of man with the Universe.
There is often a certain unease lurking in her works, with understatements and subtle suggestions directing the viewer to reflect on the above themes. The motifs in them have symbolic meanings and hidden messages, with people and animals often acting in roles of guardian or warning. Also included are symbols of infinity - shells, spirals of ivy and lianas entwining a person. A constant motif of these is woman: as the giver of new life, protecting it, delicate yet strong and invincible. As a priestess worshipping nature, inseparable from the instinct to care, warmth or bring peace.
The artist escapes into the world of imagination, revealing to the viewer the awesomeness of nature, mythology, and symbolism with the hope that her paintings can become an inspiration, meditation, reflection, and perhaps an awareness of our needs deeply hidden from the world.
