Biography
Painter, creator of installations. In 2003 he defended his diploma with honors in the studio of Jacek Wojciechowski at the Faculty of Arts of UMCS in Lublin. He is a recipient of the Minister of Culture's award in the Young Poland scholarship program (2013) and a two-time recipient of the Lublin Mayor's award (2015, 2016). Winner of the Grand Prix and an award from the editors of "Artinfo.pl" and "Artluk" in the 40th Biennale of Painting "Bielska Jesień 2011". He lives and works in Lublin on a daily basis. In his work he explores the ways of visual perception. His characteristic use of close-ups, distances, shots from different angles sensitizes the viewer to feel the space of everyday life. Photorealistic, but directed at exploiting the geometric properties of objects, his way of depicting fragments of things and places on the one hand brings to mind the geometric abstraction of Piet Mondrian and his followers. On the other hand, objects on a uniform background, abstracted from their context, resemble 3D design computer spaces, inscribing Ciężki's paintings into the framework of contemporary digital culture.
