This set of 15 pieces includes fifteen academic drawings executed in charcoal and charcoal pencil on heavy paper. Several sheets bear the vertical embossed watermark “C.M. FABRIANO - 100/100 COTONE” along the edges, indicating the use of high-quality, 100 percent cotton art paper. The subjects are characteristic of traditional studio art training and include studies of classical sculpture, such as Michelangelo’s David and various fragments of heads, full-figure studies, anatomical studies of hands, an equestrian statue, and several still-life compositions featuring vases, fruit, and geometric shapes. The style is strictly academic, with a marked emphasis on the rendering of volume, form, and tonal gradation achieved through the chiaroscuro technique. One drawing depicts a standing female figure and is signed “An. Adam” in the lower left corner. The remaining drawings, consistent in style and medium, can be attributed to the circle of the 20th-century artist Adriana Bonisconti, as indicated by comparisons with similar works on the specialized art market.
