Ryszard Kwiecień—painter, sculptor, and creator of artistic textiles. He was born in 1930 in Godów near Starachowice. In 1956, he graduated from the Faculty of Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he studied in Prof. Stefan Gałkowski’s tapestry studio. He created paintings, sculptures, and original textiles, which constitute one of the most important and distinctive parts of his body of work. In 1981, he became head of the Artistic Textiles Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and in 1999 he was appointed full professor. He worked at the Academy until 2000. He died in 2003 in Kraków.
