acrylic, canvas, 120 x 120 cm, signed and described on the back: 'Tetiana Tretiakova | Butterfly | acrylic on canvas, marker | 120 x 120 cm | 2025 | Warsaw, Poland | [monogram TT]'.
Born in Kharkiv in 1988 and currently working in Warsaw, the artist combines her philological training with art education gained at MoMA and the National Gallery, among others. Since 2023, she has actively contributed to the art scene as an author and curator, taking part in more than thirty exhibitions, including the CUTOUT Collage Art Project residency. Her work, which is present in collections throughout Europe, focuses on the body as a storehouse of memory and trauma. In her work, the artist explores corporeality through the lens of violence, PTSD and the experience of emigration. Her calling card is red - a symbol of passion and the will to live. Through series such as "Prayer for Life," she promotes the acceptance of imperfections and scars as unique records of personal stories. Referring to the idea of body neutrality, she abandons the pursuit of the ideal in favor of authenticity. By depicting characters in the process of transformation and deformation, she encourages people to follow their inner compass instead of succumbing to social expectations.
