Biography
Wladyslaw Rybkowski started working at a very young age, went to Westphalia in search of better wages, and was finally drafted into the Prussian army in 1914. After the war ended, he joined the Foreign Legion. In 1922 he returned to Poland, and throughout his life did various jobs in different places. During World War II and later, he was a manual laborer. In the 1950s he moved to Warsaw, where he took a job as a night watchman, overseeing, among other things, the reconstruction of the Grand Theater. It was then that he began to create. In his works he combined visions of the exotic, fairy tales and his current reality. In the 1960s, his paintings found their way to the Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw and presented in the exhibition "Others."
