He began studying drawing and painting already in his junior high school years. He then studied at the Warsaw School of Decorative Arts and Painting under the direction of E. Butrymowicz. During World War II he was in the Soviet Union - in 1941-1942 he studied in Moscow, designed posters and painted war-themed paintings. In 1943 he traveled to Altai. After the war he returned to Poland; in 1950-1952 he was a professor at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. In the following years he devoted himself entirely to painting. During his frequent travels - including to Italy, France and the United States - he painted landscapes and vedutas of the many cities he visited. He exhibited extensively, both at home and abroad - in Sofia, Budapest, Dresden, Paris, Rome, Milan - receiving favorable reviews from critics. After the exhibition in Paris, they wrote about him, among other things: "a painter sensitive to matter and color exhibits unpretentious canvases, pensive, full of vigor in texture, testifying to a lively reaction to light..."
