Studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cracow and the Municipal School of Decorative Arts in Warsaw. From 1945 associated with the Katowice artistic community. In 1947 he led the painting atelier in the Katowice Department of Graphic Arts, in 1963-64 he was head of the Department. He practiced easel and wall painting, drawing and printmaking. Rafal Pomorski's painting derives from realism, flows from the observation of nature, but is far from its photographic reflection, the artist puts the surrounding reality in order, strives to introduce order and harmony. Simple, geometric forms, the accumulation of solids derived from the "cubist" view of the world, the noble matter of painting rippled, slightly rough texture of the walls of houses and walls, and the color scheme, which is dominated by grays, determine the specific climate of his paintings. Recognized in the 1960s as the creator of a new direction in painting: industrial landscape, he sought a new way of seeing in the motifs of industrial landscapes of Silesia.
