Born in 1942, painter, also creates drawings and spatial installations. From 1962 to 1968, he studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He earned his diploma in the studio of Prof. Jan Cybis. Jan Dobkowski developed his graphic artistic language early in his career. His works, which draw on the tradition of pop-art, are considered pioneering in this respect on Polish soil. The artist's work stems from the need to find his own style, a conviction of the need for his own, culturally unfettered expression, which is, in a way, not unfamiliar to him from the mental and moral revolution of the 1960s. The artist's works can be found in the collections of, among others, the National Museum in Warsaw, Poznan and Wroclaw, Art in Lodz, R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, and in private collections in Poland, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Switzerland, France.
