Rare medal struck in 1897 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Industrial Society in Toruń.
The Industrial Society was established in Toruń in 1872 and was one of the Polish organizations operating in the city, which at that time was under Prussian rule. Its activities were not limited solely to professional matters. The organization conducted educational and cultural activities, organized lectures, performances and exhibitions of Polish industry, ran its own school for students of crafts and commercial professions, bookkeeping courses, a reading room and a library. As early as December 1872, it organized the first Polish Christmas exhibition, presenting products of Polish entrepreneurs and craftsmen.
Rare medal of a distinctly patriotic character, constituting an interesting testimony to Polish economic, social and educational activity in Toruń during the period of Prussian rule.
