A lot of vintage and antique 20th-century suitcases and trunks, including a variety of suitcases and trunks made from different materials, such as leather, vulcanized fiber, and aluminum. This lot includes a large travel trunk painted blue with black metal trim and brass hardware, positioned in the center of the stack. There are several brown leather and vulcanized fiber suitcases of various sizes that show significant patina and signs of surface wear. At the top of the collection is an aluminum technical case bearing a decorative sticker from the Taormina Racing Show ’85 along with racing flag motifs. The construction of the items ranges from rigid, metal-reinforced structures to flexible leather suitcases. The metal hardware includes snap locks and buckle closures typical of the mid-century period.
The items show general signs of wear consistent with their age and historical use. There are superficial scratches, abrasions on the leather and fabric, and signs of oxidation and superficial rust on the metal hardware. Some handles and fasteners show signs of wear. The aluminum case has minor dents and wear on the decal. The interior surfaces have not been inspected.
