A very nice piece with well-preserved details and lots of shine in the background.
Background freshness.
A token minted on the occasion of the tribute of Galicia and Lodomeria paid in December 1773.
This is one of two varieties of tribute tokens of this vintage.
By analogy with the obverse of another numismatic tribute medal minted in silver, among others, as well as the occurrence of tokens with the visible letter K. on the neck of Emperor Joseph, according to K. Browary, the Viennese medallionist Johann Martin Krafft must be considered the author of the stamps for the minting of this item.
Obverse: bust to the right, in the rim the legend:
IOSEPHVS II-M-THERESIA AVGG-;
Reverse: in the wreath the inscription: GALICIA/LODOMERIA/CAET:/IN FIDEM/RECEPTAE/MDCCLXXIII-;
Silver, diameter 25.5 mm, weight 3.98 g.
