Leopold I (1657-1705) became Hungarian king and emperor following the early death of his older brother, Ferdinand IV, who had long been groomed to succeed him. He supported Poland in the last phase of the war with Sweden, and in return received the support of John III in the war with Turkey. Ultimately, he drove the Turks out of Hungary. He founded, among others, the University of Wroclaw.
An exceptionally impressive Baroque coin, wonderfully minted and beautiful preserved.
