John II Casimir, Talar, 1649, Toruń – very rare and very attractive
Obverse:
A bust of John Casimir wearing a crown and armor decorated with floral motifs. The shirt collar is lined and adorned with lace. On the chest, the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
In the rim: IOAN CASIM D G REX POL ET SUEC M D L RUS PR
Reverse:
An angel holding an oval shield bearing the coat of arms of Toruń. On either side of the shield, the date 16–49
In the rim: MONETA NOVA ARGENTEA CIVITATIS THORUNENSIS

Minor adjustments and a slight scratch on the reverse (traces visible in the photo). A beautifully struck and well-preserved coin for this type. Beautiful detail. Luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. Charming patina. Good presentation. In this condition, the coin is very rare and very difficult to find on the collector’s market. A beautiful piece.
