Very rare three kreuzer of John II Casimir,, issued for the Duchy of Oppeln-Rattibor, with a portrait and title of the Polish king.
Variety with a wider bust of the king, without a rosette at the beginning of the obverse legend and with the reverse legend MONETA NOVA.
The second year of issue, initiated by the Warsaw Treaty concluded between Władysław IV and Emperor Ferdinand III. As part of the outstanding dowries, the land of the Duchy of Opole and Racibórz was given as a pledge for the Commonwealth. Władysław IV, and then his brothers Karol Ferdynand Vasa and Jan Kazimierz, as part of their right, minted three-country coins at the Opole mint. Coins were minted according to the ordinance existing in Silesia. After purchasing the pledge, the Habsburgs forbade the circulation of coins issued by Polish issuers in the Duchy of Opole and Racibórz, as a result of which they were quickly withdrawn from circulation, and only a small number of them have survived to the present day.
As T. Kałkowski writes: "one of the first imperial decrees was a ban on the circulation of Polish money in Silesia, which was rigorously implemented."
Extremely rare and sought after coin by collectors of Crown and Silesian coins.
