Aleksander SARNOWICZ

Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Leon Wyczółkowski in 1905-1906 and 1909-1910. After his studies, he went to France for two years. Since 1921, he continuously and successfully exhibited his paintings in Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery. During the war he painted several battle compositions, but his work, which consisted exclusively of oil paintings, was mainly landscapes, scenes of village and town life and animal studies. In the 1920s he also painted Tatra motifs and portraits of highlanders.
