Biography
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Diploma in 1977 in the Painting Studio of Prof. Kazimierz Śramkiewicz. From 1978 to 1979 worked at the Feature Films Studio in Łódź as the second stage designer. From 1980 to 1990 he was a teacher at the State High School of Fine Arts in Gdynia Orlowo. Since 1999, he has been an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Currently he works at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk as an assistant in the Painting Studio of Prof. Maciej Swieszewski. Jozef Czerniawski designs interiors, posters, walls (e.g. in Gdansk Zaspa), advertising facades and installations. He is also a filmmaker, set designer, accordionist musician (bands Biafra and Chlupot Mózgu), actor (appeared in many clips), producer of music videos of Kazik, Electric Guitars and Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, co-worker of Kacper Orłowski in filming, co-founder of the artistic group Cox. The artist is a member of the SFINKS Foundation (Sopot Forum for the Integration of Science, Culture and Art). Winner of numerous painting competitions.
