Pair of decorative elephants made of crackled ceramic and gilded bronze with cherubs. Height: 37 cm. Dimensions: 39 x 27 x 16 cm.

A pair of decorative sculptures depicting Indian elephants in a standing position with their trunks raised upward. Each figure is made of white glazed ceramic with a fine-mesh, intentionally crackled surface finish. The elephants are adorned with a gilded metal saddlecloth richly decorated with embossed motifs of leaves and scrolls. Above the saddle sits a warrior or mahout figure in gilded metal, depicted seated with crossed legs while holding a spear or a goad. The structure rests on a rectangular base of gilded bronze or brass, featuring an openwork frieze with ornamental perforations and decorated block-shaped corner feet. The style reflects the European Chinoiserie aesthetic typical of 19th- and early 20th-century interior furnishings. The ceramic surface bears no externally visible manufacturer’s marks, signatures, or model numbers. The metal components feature detailed casting with alternating matte and glossy finishes.
