Italian painter. After his first studies in Koper, he was in Trieste from 1833 and from 1842 to 1847 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. From 1848 he was in the studio of Louis Gallait in Brussels, where he specialized in the representation of historical events. Between 1852 and 1877 he executed numerous works in Trieste, which made him famous and in demand. Among other things, he was commissioned by Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg to create canvases depicting the phases of the history of the Miramare Castle, which are located in a room on the second floor, called the "Cesare Dell'Acqua Room". In 1873 he participated in the World Exhibition in Vienna and the following year in London. In the last part of his life, he moved permanently to Brussels, where he devoted himself to painting for book illustrations.
