Orlowski Aleksander was born in Warsaw in 1777. He came from a poor family, and his father later ran an inn in Siedlce, which belonged to the Hetman Ogiński estate. Once, when the Czartoryski Princes went to visit Siedlce, they stopped at the inn to rest and change clothes after their journey. In the room the duchess entered, she noticed a multitude of charcoal drawings on the walls and stove, which caught her attention with their boldness and clarity of lines.
