Crypta Neapolitana is an ancient Roman road tunnel near Naples, Italy. It was built in 37 BC and is more than 700 meters long.
The Kingdom of Naples and Sicily was under the rule of the younger line of the Spanish Bourbons from 1735. in 1759 Ferdinand IV ascended to the throne. In 1768 he married Empress Maria Theresa's daughter Maria Carolina. He soon put the reign in her hands. In 1748, archaeological excavations began at Pompeii near Naples, which became a major tourist attraction and drew visitors from all over Europe.
