A beautiful, nude odalisque lying on a large bed covered with blankets and pillows in an interior with heavy curtains gathered from the center to the sides. She is wearing a turquoise headdress with a golden half-hoop, has a fine face, darkly painted eyes, sensual red lips and is looking intently at herself in a small mirror, her right arm outstretched and resting on a red velvet cushion. Her left arm is propped up on another greenish cushion. A silk scarf around her right thigh covers her pubic area, and she is also wearing a round golden leg ornament below her left knee. Erotically sensual depiction in the artist's typical manner. Bouché studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich in 1863. The main theme of his work was female nudes, often in an oriental setting, and the names of the women depicted were also characterized by oriental eroticism. Depictions of odalisques can be found several times in his oeuvre. His works can be found in collections of German museums, such as the Nuremberg City Museum, but most of his paintings ended up in private collections. (1411514) (18)
