Biography
He studied from 1903 to 1906 at the School of Woodworking in Stanisławów in the sculpture department, and later in Kraków (1907–1912) under T. Axentowicz, S. Dębicki, and L. Wyczółkowski. From 1912 to 1933, he worked as a drawing teacher in Kraków, Przemyśl, and Rzeszów. From 1943 to 1950, he worked as a draftsman and conservator at the PAU Archaeological Museum in Kraków, and from 1958 he was a faculty member at the Academy of Fine Arts there. The artist’s solo exhibitions took place in Kraków, Warsaw, Rzeszów, and Lviv. He focused primarily on printmaking—using various techniques, often in color. His paintings are dominated by compositions with themes referring to Poland’s pre-Christian history; he also painted portraits and landscapes. He also designed polychromes, worked with enamel techniques, and is the author of reviews, articles, and a book on the restoration of old prints.
