Marek Dzienkiewicz (b. 1951 in Warsaw) Full professor of fine arts. From 1969 to 1974, he studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of Prof. Tadeusz Dominik (graduated with honors in 1974), Additionally: in the Studio of Classical Weaving Techniques under Prof. Mieczysław Szymański and Prof. Zbigniew Gostomski (textile annex). From 1975 to 2021, he led studios at several departments of the Warsaw Academy. He is the author of twenty-five distinct cycles/series of works, which differed significantly in their formal concepts, scale, and the types of materials used. In 2023, the artist received the Silver Medal “Gloria Artis” for Distinguished Service to Culture. Marek Dzienkiewicz has participated in dozens of solo and group exhibitions, as well as in artistic exchanges with other countries. His works are held in museums in Poland—including the National Museum in Warsaw, the collections of the Zachęta National Art Gallery and the Studio Gallery in Warsaw—as well as in galleries and private collections in Poland and abroad.
