August II the Strong, Viceregal Ducat, 1711, Dresden – a beautiful
Ducat of August II, as Viceroy of the Holy Roman Empire.
Obverse:
August II on horseback. At the bottom, a shield bearing the Polish, Lithuanian, and Saxon coats of arms.
Reverse:
Two tables covered with royal mantles. On them, the insignia of power. Above, an inscription in two lines: FRID AUG / REX ELECTOR; below, an inscription in five lines: & / VICARIUS / POST MORT IOSE / IMPERAT / MDCCXI, along with hooks (the mint mark of the Dresden Mint).
Condition: NGC MS61
A beautifully struck and preserved coin. Beautiful detail. Intense luster and mirror finish. Mint condition confirmed by a very high NGC grade. Excellent presentation. In this condition, the coin is rare and hard to find on the collector’s market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
